It's the very end of August and that means - Sunflowers!
I've always loved sunflowers at any time of year but the end of summer sunflowers with their melancholy tinge are so beautiful to me. I've painted a small series of 3 watercolor sketch studies to explore that idea. They're 8 x 10 on paper with touches of crayon sealed with medium to bring out the vibrance of the color as well as an interesting texture.

Art Expiration Date
You might notice that there's an expiration date on these - that's because I'm trying out a new step in my creative practice. I'm going to start destroying some of the work that has outlived its purpose. It's a way for me to release that creative energy, and space, to be able to channel it into new work. I'll be talking more about this as I work my way through the process.
