I’m two weeks into my self-directed summer studio residency, and the creative current is shifting in unexpected ways.
I’ve been making hand-cut foam print blocks, layering brayer textures over Stabilo Marks-All (a favorite tool) sketches, and letting the process guide me. The house from my childhood—a symbol I thought I knew—has become abstracted. Now, stars and floating windows are taking over.
I’m also leaning hard into vertical compositions—something I didn’t expect, but feels right. The more I follow the work, the more it shows me where memory and meaning intersect.
Next up: I’ll begin working toward finished 4x6 prints, while still holding space for reflection and intuitive moves.
If you want a peek at how it’s looking, I’ve added new photos and short clips to my Pinterest board, and YouTube. The blog has a full write-up and images here: Read the blog post.
Thanks, as always, for traveling with me.
